Description

About the role

Bodhi is seeking a Senior Researcher (native French speaker) to join our Conflict, Gender & Inclusion (CGI) Team. This role offers the opportunity to lead high-impact research and evaluations at the intersection of conflict, gender, climate change, and the triple nexus (humanitarian-development-peace).

As a Senior Researcher, you will be responsible for designing and delivering projects from inception to close, ensuring quality, timeliness, and compliance. You preferably will bring strong quantitative skills (i.e., evaluation design, survey methods, GIS mapping, social network analysis) combined with thematic depth related to conflict and peacebuilding, including stabilisation, climate security, and women, peace, and security (WPS). You will also mentor junior staff, support business development, and represent Bodhi in external forums.

This position will require regular international travel (at least 30% of working time) to support field research, workshops, and client engagement in fragile and conflict-affected contexts.

You would be ideal for this role if you:

Are a native French speaker with excellent written and spoken English (mandatory - applications will not be considered without this requirement).
Have 7+ years’ experience leading conflict/gender/climate-related research in FCAS.
Have advanced skills in quantitative research methods (i.e., survey design, statistical analysis, GIS, SNA).
Can balance multiple projects and deliverables while maintaining high quality.
Enjoy mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to a collaborative team culture.
Are proactive in identifying business opportunities and strengthening client relationships.

Working with Bodhi, you will:

Have ample opportunity to develop your professional experience and interests across different thematic and geographic contexts, including the MENA, sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia
Be able to pursue your research interests, with the flexibility to propose research ideas and innovative approaches
Collaborate with and influence the work of key international and national humanitarian, development and peacebuilding actors, including donors, national governments, INGOs/NGOs, and civil society organisations
Work closely with a team of energetic, dynamic, and expert researchers as well as local researchers and experts with a breadth of knowledge, experience, and expertise
Have the opportunity to improve your foreign language skills and/or learn a new one

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Engage with, and adapt, new research practices and approaches, and participatory research tools and methods applied in development research

Business Development

Drive the development of project and framework proposals, taking lead authorship on technical sections and contributing to budgets, methodologies, and staffing plans.
Preparing for and attending interviews with potential clients
Representing the company in the form of attending or presenting at conference events
Conducting quality assurance on technical sections of proposals
Lead identification of new business opportunities, including mapping clients, partners, and emerging research themes relevant to conflict, gender, and inclusion
Contribute to organisational knowledge development and positioning in the field, including authoring blogs, think pieces, and policy briefs.
