Background
The “Multi-partner coordinated and joint Information Management, GIS, Analysis and Capacity Building support service” project is implemented by iMMAP Inc., MapAction, and CartONG under the H2H Network activation funded by FCDO. It aims to strengthen the Syrian humanitarian data ecosystem.
This joint initiative supports local civil society organizations (CSOs), the Syria NGO Forum, and the Humanitarian Country Team (HCT) through coordinated capacity building, peer mentorship, IM support, and responsible data promotion. The project acts as a support service for the provision of IM, GIS, and analysis activities to the humanitarian community in Syria.
CartONG is seeking a qualified individual consultant or service provider based in Aleppo to support the implementation of project activities locally.
Objectives
To provide localized support for:
Information Management (IM)
GIS and data visualization
Capacity building and mentorship
Responsible data practices
Coordination with humanitarian actors
Scope of Work
1. Needs Assessment & Stakeholder Engagement
Conduct pre-analysis and kickoff activities
Interview and engage local stakeholders remotely
Contribute to a needs analysis report
2. Capacity Building & Community Engagement
Prepare and deliver webinars on responsible data management
Facilitate a community of practice (CoP)
Coordinate and support CSO trainings with local providers
Facilitate peer-to-peer learning and mentorship mechanisms
3. Technical Support & Resource Localization
Coordinate translation and adaptation of technical resources (En to Arabic)
Support mapathons and volunteer engagement
Provide IM/GIS technical support as needed
4. Knowledge Sharing & Reporting
Develop case studies on successful practices
Contribute to final project reporting
Profile of Consultant / Provider
Minimum 3 years of experience in IM, GIS, or data analysis in humanitarian contexts
Proven ability to train and mentor partners
Familiarity with Power BI, QGIS, ArcGIS, and Excel
Strong communication skills in Arabic and English
Experience working with local NGOs or coordination forums
Knowledge of Syria’s humanitarian coordination architecture
