JOB SUMMARY:

The Junior Pharmacist, Dispensing will primarily support the dispensing pharmacist in packing medicines, managing stock, and preparing reports.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation:

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and label medicines for dispensing
• Dispense medicines to patients and relevant departments/wards in the Health Facility using registers to track distribution where applicable under the supervision of a senior pharmacist
• Provide the required medicine instructions, advice and counselling to the patient while dispensing medicines where applicable under the supervision of a senior pharmacist
• Arrange and manage pharmacy, under supervision of a senior pharmacist, in accordance with internationally accepted standard practices including tracking expiration dates, First Expire First Out (FEFO) policy, bin cards, stock cards, tracking registers, re-order thresholds, cleanliness, etc.
• Assist the senior pharmacist in conducting inventory control of pharmacy on a regular basis
• Maintain daily, weekly and monthly consumption records and share with line supervisor accordingly. Submit consumption reports in a timely manner.
• Generate timely replenishment requests to prevent stock outs
• Track over-utilized and under-utilized items to adjust requests.
• Inform supervisor of pending stock outs, damaged medications and others irregularities on a timely manner
• Regularly check expiry dates on the medicine and report expiries immediately to concerned staff.
• Prepare clear and detailed labels for dispensed medicines written in language that beneficiaries can understand

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Typically, a Bachelor's degree in pharmacy, pharmacy technician training, trained dispensing nurse. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
• Typically, 1+ year of relevant experience working in dispensing.
• Registered with MOH preferred.
• Basic understanding of and communication capacity in English, should know the national and regional languages
• Good oral and written communications in local language
