Description
Lifting Hands International is looking for a Female Friendly Space Manager to join our team in Greece, starting in April 2026, with a minimum six-month commitment. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
About Us
Lifting Hands International operates a community center in Serres, a small city about an hour away from Thessaloniki in Northern Greece. We work with a population of 1000+ asylum seekers and refugees at the local camps, providing regular aid distributions and a range of psychosocial support programs.
Role Profile
The Female Friendly Space (FFS) is a safe space for women and girls (>13yo), where we provide psychosocial support activities and capacity building. The space is tailored for community engagement and self-expression with the aim of empowering community members while promoting education and awareness around gender issues and women’s rights.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day operations of the FFS space, ensuring safety, comfort, inclusion, and adherence to safeguarding standards.
Lead the continued development of the FFS program through monitoring, evaluation, and alignment with vision and goals.
Design and implement strategies to engage and empower community members in line with PSS guidelines, creating opportunities for learning and skills development (workshops, information sessions, etc.).
Gather community feedback and assess needs through surveys, focus groups, and informal consultations; adapt programming accordingly.
Collaborate with the Director of Operations and program managers to support visiting and community volunteers in delivering psychosocial support activities.
Induct new FFS volunteers and conduct regular one-on-one check-ins
Lead and support a diverse volunteer team, encouraging leadership and active facilitation.
Facilitate weekly FFS team meetings and manage scheduling and resource needs.
Collaborate with program managers to develop and expand women-focused, community-led programming across the center.
Coordinate with partners and manage collaborations relevant to the FFS program.
Support aid distribution activities, including communication around sanitary pad and baby shop distributions.
Track attendance, manage budgets, oversee inventory, and coordinate logistics to ensure consistent program quality.
Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports on activities, participation, outcomes, and challenges.
Report safeguarding concerns in line with organizational policy.
Assist with other duties when required
Essential Criteria
Due to the nature of the work and in order to create a safe space for the community members, only applications from women are considered
Proactive and able to work both independently and collaboratively
Previous humanitarian experience working with vulnerable populations
Experience in development, gender studies, women’s and girls’ safe spaces (WGSS), or similar community-based programming.
Understanding of psychosocial support (PSS) program implementation
Previous experience leading and managing teams
Ability to handle safeguarding concerns with professionalism and care
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a large, multicultural team
Fluent in English
Minimum six-month commitment
Must be able to enter Greece independently
Desirable Criteria
Relevant degree(s) in a related field.
Ability to commit 6–12 months.
International driver’s license.
