Role

Under the guidance of the Country Director, the finance coordinator works to ensure the efficient management of finance and accounting services for Geneva Call, including cash flows, payments, reporting and compliances on finance and accounting matters.

Work Relations

The finance coordinator reports to the Country Director and works closely with other members of the finance and support team in country and the finance team in HQ.

Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain accurate and timely financial accounting records, including processing payments, receipts, payroll, accruals, advances, bank and cash transactions, balance sheet reconciliations, and ensuring all transactions are recorded in the accounting system in accordance with organizational procedures.
Support financial planning, budgeting and reporting processes, including the preparation and monitoring of project and country budgets, cash flow forecasts, monthly Budget vs. Actual (BvA) reports, financial analyses, and month-end closing activities, ensuring compliance with HQ deadlines.
Ensure compliance with organizational, donor and statutory requirements, including due diligence reviews, financial controls, tax and social security obligations, liaison with relevant authorities, and adherence to local regulatory requirements and best practices.
Support the financial management of staff advances, implementing partners and audits, including advance management and reconciliation, partner financial accounting, preparation of supporting documentation, coordination with auditors, and support for donor financial reporting.
Maintain effective financial systems and documentation, ensuring accurate reconciliations, proper record-keeping, systematic filing of financial documents, and the availability of complete supporting documentation for all financial transactions and reporting requirements.
Requirements

Education (Essential)

Masters or Bachelor’s degree in relevant field such as accounting, management, finance, or commerce.
Experience (Essential)

8 years of progressive experience in finance.
3+ years of experience of accounting principal methods and rules.
Knowledge and experience of working with various donors on finance, compliance, accounting, reporting, and donor auditing.
Experience (Desirable)

4 years of relevant experience in finance function in an INGO.
3+ years of experience of running online systems for accounting, such as expense management systems.
Job related competencies

Financial Management: Expertise in budget preparation and management, financial accounting principles, and creating financial forecasts and reports.
Software Proficiency: Skill in using accounting software, donor reporting packages, and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
Compliance & Audits: Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and compliance standards, as well as experience with internal controls and audits.
Organisational competencies

Collaborative, team-oriented, and solutions-oriented approach.
Language (Essential)

Full professional proficiency in Arabic, written and spoken.
Fluency in English, written and spoken is required.
