JOB SUMMARY
The ICU Doctor – Adult is responsible for providing high-quality critical care services to adult patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. The role includes diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and follow-up of critically ill patients, as well as ensuring adherence to evidence-based protocols, infection prevention and control standards, and ethical medical practices.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The ICU Doctor – Adult has the following responsibilities and duties:
• Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for critically ill adult patients in the ICU.
• Perform advanced clinical procedures, including intubation, central and arterial line insertion, and mechanical ventilation management.
• Monitor and interpret laboratory tests, imaging, and other diagnostic results for clinical decision-making.
• Ensure timely referrals to specialized services when required.
• Conduct daily ward rounds and maintain up-to-date patient records.
• Monitor patient progress and adapt treatment plans as necessary.
• Provide counseling and updates to patients’ families regarding prognosis, treatment plans, and critical updates.
• Ensure adherence to ICU protocols, international standards, and ethical guidelines.
• Promote infection prevention and control (IPC) practices across the ICU.
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient documentation.
• Contribute to regular ICU reports and data collection for monitoring and evaluation.
• Support the hospital administration in developing and updating ICU policies and clinical guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Should have the following skills, education, and experience:
• Medical degree with valid license to practice.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of clinical experience, with at least 2 years in critical care or ICU settings.
• Strong clinical and diagnostic skills in managing critically ill adult patients.
• Proficiency in advanced life support (ALS/ACLS) and emergency interventions.
• Familiarity with mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, and use of ICU equipment.• Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in high-stress environments.
• Commitment to medical ethics, patient dignity, and confidentiality.
