Description

In the framework of an impact evaluation of a program supporting refugees, Development Expertise Lab (DEL) is implementing a large-scale phone survey with Cameroonian refugees living in Nigeria. All interviews will be conducted remotely by WhatsApp and phone, using computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) with SurveyCTO. For this assignment, DEL is recruiting enumerators to interview Cameroonian refugees living in Nigeria. Applicants may be based in Nigeria or Cameroon and must be fluent in English. As the survey is conducted entirely by phone, no travel is required.

Contract Duration: short-term consultancy, paid at a daily rate, covering training, pilot, and data collection between early August and late September 2026.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

Native or fluent speaker of English; fluency in Cameroonian Pidgin English is an asset
Previous experience conducting remote interviews by phone
Previous experience with socio-economic survey work, including phone-based surveys
Experience with computer-assisted interviewing (CAPI/CATI); experience with SurveyCTO is a strong asset
Knowledge of the cultural context and sensitivities of the respondent population
University degree preferred
Knowledge of the cultural context of the Anglophone regions of Cameroon is a strong asset
Access to a quiet environment, and a smartphone capable of WhatsApp calls
Based in Nigeria or Cameroon
