Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the support the Protection assistant - and the overall guidance of the PWGIE officer,
The GBV case worker is responsible for identifying protection related risks and needs of the community in the areas where CARE is implementing its projects to ensure inclusion of vulnerable communities in all Care programs. The GBV case worker will deliver awareness messages in the community sessions. The GBV case worker will be directly involved in the day-to-day activities of the project, i.e participating in focus group
Key Responsibilities:
Program planning and implementation:
Conduct WG/VAWG Safety Audits in the targeted area to assess and identify VAWG risks by
services/sectors.
Build positive relationships with the communities and promote the participation of the community.
in taking care of community needs, including the development of protection key messages.
Conducting protection related awareness sessions in the targeted areas.
Provide direct emotional and psychosocial support to women and girls, with a particular focus on
survivors of VAWG, through individual counseling and case management services
Organize group psychosocial activities for women and girls.
Participate in CARE-provided technical trainings and on-going technical skill support sessions on VAWG,
counseling skills, trauma, and case management.
Conduct ongoing focus group discussions with adolescent girls to inform program activities.
Document the process of identification, analysis, response, and evaluation using the tools provided. By the Protection Assistant.
Ensure the intervention and support delivered are beneficial and evaluate the effectiveness of the action taken.
Assist the Protection Assistant in mapping the existing services and capacities.
Conduct information sessions to familiarize families with Care protection program, VAWG prevention. and response etc.
Maintain confidentiality of all the information collected in exercise of the job.
Participate in weekly meetings with the project team and attend any ad hoc meetings as requested.
Work with cultural sensitivity and always respect the dignity of displaced people and members of
the host communities.
Document & share with Protection assistant, the incidents where referrals are not utilized,
and people have challenges in accessing services.
Under the supervision of the Protection Assistant attend local coordination meetings when needed.
Attend relevant trainings on Protection, VAWG, Psychosocial Support and others when requested.
Coordination and networking:
Ensure proper record-keeping of all activities and reporting tools and prepare weekly/monthly/quarterly activity reports on time.
Periodically collect data and regularly update individual files of the programmer beneficiaries, as well as attendance sheets and progress towards targets.
Keep proper records of expenditures and report on these to the line manager.
Conduct regular meetings with communities to jointly identify adolescents’ needs and develop adequate solutions jointly.
Participate in weekly meetings with the project team and other ad hoc meetings as requested.
Assist and promote the creation of a referral system when required, where each community member can find support and response to his/her own needs.
Identify & Propose WG-related topics for the eventual trainings lead by the project team.
3. Reporting and information management:
Develop targeting criteria and mechanisms to meet the needs of vulnerable groups, with a focus on gender sensitivity.
Collaborate with the MEAL department to develop and implement monitoring and evaluation tools.
Ensure data is collected, analyzed, and used to inform project activities and results frameworks.
Prepare and submit monthly narrative reports and provide inputs for external reports.
Capacity Building:
Ensure understanding of and compliance to CARE PSEA and Child Safeguarding policies and reporting mechanisms.
Ensure affected populations are fully aware about CARE PSEA and CS policies and know how to report in a safe and confidential way
Required:
University degree in psychology, social work, pedagogy, social sciences or another relevant field.
Minimum 1-year experience working with an INGO or LNGO.
Minimum One -years previous experience in protection Awareness raising /VAWG/, referral, programs.
Experience with PO activities implementation, community mobilization and beneficiaries registration
Experience working on electronic data (e.g using excel sheet on laptop)
Experience in partnerships with local NGO.
