A 6 months fixed term vacancy exists for a Porter based at the Life Diagnostic Imaging - Empangeni Radiology reporting to the Administration Controller.

The successful candidate will be part of a professional team that is continuously striving for the highest standards of quality in patient care.

Critical Outputs
Transport patients from radiology to wards and vice versa.
Transport patients from wards to doctor’s rooms and radiology.
Check wheelchairs and trolleys for cleanliness and whether in need of repairs (maintain in good working condition).
Assist with ad-hoc duties as and when required by the department.
Deliver correspondence to doctor’s and wards as and when required.
Provide assistance with the movement of patients in a safe, professional and friendly manner.
Provide quality service at all times.
General administrative functions as requested.

Requirements

Grade 12
Working experience in the hospital environment advantageous
Experience in dealing with people
General knowledge of radiology and hospital procedures advantageous
Team player
Must be willing to work according to the flexi-hour system including night duty and weekends
Position includes working shifts
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Reliable and trustworthy
Ability to work independently and use initiative to achieve set objectives
