DanChurchAid (DCA) Syria invites applications for an experienced Assistant Team Leader to join our dedicated team. The objective for this position is per the following;

Conduct clearance activities and assist with the supervision of the clearance team under the direction of the Clearance Team Leader (TL), in accordance with applicable DCA SOPs and task requirements.
Deputise for the Clearance Team Leader when required and appropriately authorised.
Support the Clearance Team Leader and supervise Deminers in the safe and effective conduct of assigned clearance activities.
Always comply with applicable DCA SOPs, safety procedures and task requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise assigned clearance procedures in accordance with DCA training, SOPs and task-specific instructions.
Be prepared to relocate, at short notice, to clearance sites according to operational priorities.
Comply fully, at all times, with the applicable DCA Standard Operating Procedures for clearance activities.
Under the direction of the TL, supervise the setting out and marking of the task site, including the control point and administration area, as required.
Ensure suspected or confirmed explosive ordnance is identified, marked and reported in accordance with DCA SOPs, and immediately report for further action through the applicable reporting line.
Acquire a thorough understanding of the overall task planning and execution process.
Maintain awareness of relevant EOD and IEDD procedures and the requirement to report and escalate explosive ordnance requiring specialist support.
Understand and apply new training received when relevant to specific task or area requirements.
Assist the TL in pre and post task checks.
Seek continuous improvement and performance optimisation throughout the employment period.
Be a role model for diversity and inclusion, as well as a positive role model for contributing to the team spirit.
As a representative of DCA, always maintain professional conduct.
Be present at the appointed time and place for work and in a fit condition to carry out the work in progress.
Comply with DCA SOPs.
Always maintain threat awareness and situational awareness.
Maintain and manage personal equipment.
Supervise the preparation of all relevant equipment for the task as directed by the TL.

MINIMUM REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Educational Level: Primary School Certificate, a high school degree will be an added asset.
Years of work experience: At least one year of relevant experience in a similar supervisory role within humanitarian mine action clearance; or sufficient relevant clearance experience while working for DCA, with demonstrated aptitude and capability to progress to the Clearance Team - Assistant Team Leader (ATL) role.
Physically fit and able to safely perform the duties required of the position.
