Description

Aflatoun International

Aflatoun International is a non-profit organization, which offers social, financial & entrepreneurship education to children and young people worldwide, empowering them to make a positive change for a more equitable world. Aflatoun creates high-quality curricula for different age groups, which are contextualized to local needs and circumstances, and are implemented by over 300 partner organizations in 101 countries. By using a social franchise model, Aflatoun transfers curricular content, monitoring and evaluation tools, and training capacity to partner organisations, helping them enhance their existing expertise and create an efficient learning ecosystem. Aflatoun’s programmes follow an active-learning, participant-centred methodology, which combines social and financial education (SFE) through engaging participants, educators, government institutions and civil society organisations.

The program

Aflatoun International has developed Financial Literacy Module (FLM) for parents aiming to improve parents' and caregivers' financial knowledge and financial health, enabling them to provide responsive and nurturing care for their children. In Indonesia, the programme reached more than 2300 parents/caregivers and 3300 children. Understanding various challenges faced by parents and caregivers, and whether and how the program has helped them overcome these challenges will provide valuable insights on the beneficiaries’ experience of the program.

Scope of the work

We are seeking a qualitative research consultant to produce an article that captures the beliefs, experiences, and challenges related to the financial lives of our program participants in Indonesia. Where possible, the consultant will combine storytelling with in-field observations, photography, or any other method to enrich the information and complement the narrative. The length of the article is about 3,000 words.

The final article should:

Detail the challenges that participants may face (especially financial challenges affecting parenting and well-being of children) in the local and regional context.
