We're looking for a committed and strategic Advocacy Officer to help amplify the voices of marginalized language communities and ensure their rights are recognized in the growing conversation around data justice, language inclusion, and AI ethics. This role supports the broader movement for community-led voice data collection, contributing to policy change, stakeholder influence, and public awareness and directly supports our mission of helping people get information and be heard, whatever language they speak.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives at the intersection of community organizing, messaging, and systems change.
The Advocacy Officer is a member of the Campaign Team, which seeks to expand CLEAR Global’s influence and impact.
Key Responsibilities
Advocacy Strategy and Implementation
Work with the Campaign Manager to design and execute an advocacy plan that aligns with the movement’s goals of language justice.
Identify priority advocacy targets, including social impact organizations, aid agencies, government bodies, tech companies, and multilaterals.
Track emerging opportunities in AI governance, digital inclusion, data sovereignty, and language access where the movement can influence policy, service provision or funding.
Stakeholder Engagement and Representation
Represent CLEAR Global at virtual and in-person forums, including panels, consultations, and coalition meetings.
Build and maintain relationships with key advocacy allies, including human rights orgs, language policy groups, civil society networks, and open data advocates.
Messaging, Evidence and Storytelling
Draft compelling advocacy briefs, blog posts, op-eds, social media content, and policy submissions.
Track and amplify the findings of others which supports relevant messages on language justice, inclusive digital technology, and data sovereignty
Translate data insights, community stories, and lived experiences into messages that drive action.
Work with the Monitoring and Learning colleagues to gather evidence of impact and community feedback to inform advocacy materials.
Community and Partner Support
Provide advocacy support to community fellows and partner organizations: identify opportunities, co-create talking points, facilitate introductions, create supporting resources, and offer coaching where needed.
Monitor language policy and technology-related developments in regions where communities are active, and advise on response strategies.
Fundraising
Contribute to identifying funding opportunities
Contribute to the development of concepts and funding proposals to support the activities described above
Support the development of persuasive narratives in funding applications including through persuasive writing and identifying supporting evidence from others
Please note that these responsibilities may change over time. The role will evolve as activities develop.

Bachelor’s degree in humanities, Master’s preferred
Experience in communications and/or advocacy in an international setting
3+ years’ experience in advocacy, campaigns, public affairs, or movement-building, especially in the Global South.
