Description

vacancy exists for an Artisan - Mechanical at Life St Georges Hospital, reporting to the Engineering Manager.

The successful incumbent will be responsible for ensuring continuous availability of engineering services required for the Hospital infrastructure.

Critical Outputs
Perform and oversee all mechanical maintenance and repair work within the hospital on a daily basis.
Carry out repairs and maintenance of hospital plant, equipment, and buildings during breakdowns, shutdowns, and planned maintenance activities.
Attend to and resolve maintenance requests and enquiries from doctors, hospital departments, and facility users.
Provide line management with relevant technical information, reports, and feedback as required.
Supervise the daily inspection, testing, and recording of medical gas alarm systems and medical gas supplies.
Supervise the daily inspection and maintenance of vacuum pumps and medical air compressor systems.
Ensure the accurate completion of job cards and provide timely feedback on maintenance activities performed.
Participate in the standby and call-out roster and respond promptly to emergency maintenance requirements.
Maintain and contribute to a comprehensive hospital engineering management system in accordance with operational, safety, and regulatory requirements

Requirements

N3 qualification and a recognised Mechanical Trade Test, with relevant mechanical maintenance experience, are essential.
Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, with experience in people management, contractor management, and project coordination.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to apply lateral thinking and implement effective solutions.
Results-driven individual with a proactive, hands-on approach and a strong customer service orientation.
Ability to take initiative, promote professionalism, and maintain high standards of workmanship.
Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
Valid Code 8 driver's licence and access to a reliable, roadworthy vehicle are essential for standby and callout duties.
Ability to work accurately under pressure and consistently meet deadlines.
Sound knowledge of and commitment to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation, risk management principles, and safe working practices.
Strong planning, prioritisation, and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Undertake any other related duties assigned by the Hospital Engineering Manager within the hospital and surrounding facilities.
