ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Internews seeks a Business and Innovation Specialist for an upcoming USAID-funded project that aims to address politicization of the media in Georgia by improving citizens' access to unbiased, quality content and information. The Business and Innovation Specialist will support the Chief of Party by providing technical focused on increasing the availability of civically relevant, fact-based, and engaging independent sources of information. The Specialist will work with media outlets, managers, and content producers to strengthen their business model and adapt innovative practices that enable viability, and, where possible, sustainability and/or profitability. The position will be based in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Note: Hiring is contingent upon Internews' receipt of reward funding and USAID key personnel approval.
This role will be based in Tbilisi, Georgia.

DAY-TO-DAY TASKS will include:
Provide critical expertise to program activities and partners in the areas of sustainable business models; long-term viability, sustainability, or profitability; and promoting independent sources of information.
Cultivate relationships with media, media service and advocacy organizations and associations, institutions of media analysis and criticism to strengthen relationships with a wide array of stakeholder organizations and ensure that business and sustainability activities are responsive to the needs of partners and beneficiaries.
Support the with Chief of Party, program staff and partners, with technical expertise to design and execute innovative strategies and activities to achieve program goals, objectives, and intended impact and outcomes under the relevant Objective.
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the informational ecosystem in Georgia and the region.
Support the implementation of project activities, as well as project monitoring and evaluation to ensure effective implementation and to measure project impact as designated by the Chief of Party.
Communicate closely with Internews HQ and the Chief of Party to ensure coordination across business sustainability and activities.
Support Chief of Party and Deputy Chief of Party and carry out supervisory responsibilities for technical and program staff under the relevant technical Objective, in accordance with organizational policies and applicable local laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Support Chief of Party and Deputy Chief of Party in maintaining regular communication and coordination with USAID mission, other donors, and implementers.

QUALIFICATIONS WE'RE LOOKING FOR
In-depth, hand-on experience strengthening independent media business sustainability. Demonstrated, multi-year experience overseeing donor-funded programs supporting media or civil society, with a focus on sustainability.
Experience working with organizations in information space or advocacy in Georgia and/or region.
Deep understanding of the local and regional informational ecosystem, media sector, and civil society
Expertise of contemporary issues surrounding the viability of media, the online influencer economy, content monetization strategies, and current tends in non-profit media models.
Experience with USAID- and/or US government-funded programs required.
Strong reputation for developing excellent collaborative working relationships with counterparts including local CSOs, media and information actors, private sector actors, funders, and other program personnel.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with and manage a diverse staff.
English fluency (verbal and written) required; Georgian proficiency and other regional languages highly preferred.
