Pivot is an NGO that has been collaborating with Madagascar’s Ministry of Public Health (MSANP) since 2014 to upgrade the public health system in order to provide quality care to the population of Ifanadiana district. In partnership with the Malagasy government, we are building a health system model whose approach adapts and evolves according to its impact on the population. Our approach is based on the following actions at all levels of the health system - community, health center, district hospital: improving clinical care, upgrading the system’s capabilities, and scientific innovation. This model is in line with MSANP policies and aims to produce fast, consistent and sustainable outcomes for the population in terms of health and access to care, with a view to establishing Universal Health Coverage.
Pivot is seeking a new Clinical Specialist, to support clinical programs and patient management and follow-up.
Job Title: Clinical Specialist
Assignment Location: Ranomafana, Ifanadiana District
Commitment: 2 years, renewable
Salary Range: $21,000 to $48,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Position Overview: PIVOT is seeking a new Clinical Specialist to support the implementation of clinical activities and to support patient care and follow-up.
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Medical Programs, the Clinical Specialist:
Is part of PIVOT’s Senior Management Team (SMT)
Works closely with the Assistant Director of Hospital Care.
- Support for program development
Help to develop and/or revise clinical care programs
Provide technical support for developing or updating project documentation (project proposals, logical framework, terms of reference, etc.)
Provide technical advice about strategic orientations and interventions on clinical issues
Support coordinating and implementing the clinical team's activities
Participate in developing the annual work plan and annual budgeting
Assist and support the managers in coordinating and implementing clinical projects

Spearhead efforts to upgrade the quality of clinical care
Provide continuous learning and skills upgrading on clinical topics in line with organizational priorities
Participate in training health workers through proven curricula according to program needs
Support patient management
Supervise and support the quality of the clinical activities of the medical team
Coordinate the management of complex clinical cases (case-by-case support, chart review, etc.)
Improve patient follow-up
Facilitate holistic patient care - by linking the social and the clinical
Travel regularly to the districts where Pivot works;
Collaborate on the front line with representatives of the Ministry of Health and other partners to set up and manage activities
Collaborate closely with the PIVOT Science team on specific research projects
Have at least three to five years of similar work experience
Physician with specialization required
A specialization in internal medicine is a plus.
Experience in project design and implementation is a plus
International experience in an under-resourced setting is a plus
Ability to work in French is mandatory, in English and Malagasy is a plus
