Description
Damnok Toek (DT) is a local NGO working in Cambodia since 1997 with the aim of supporting vulnerable children such as street children, children with disabilities, and children victims or at-risk of trafficking/unsafe migration. Damnok Toek has projects in Poipet, Neak Loeung and Kep.
We are currently compiling our long-term Communications and Fundraising strategy and are looking for a consultant experienced in these fields to help facilitate this process. This position will be participation-based with the consultant working directly with Damnok Toek’s Management Team and Communication and Fundraising departments, as well as our international partner, Goutte d’eau - a child support network, to develop and synthesize the strategy.
This is a temporary consultancy, which we envision will take about 2 months.
Timeframe (can be discussed):
April 18-May 13, 2022: Hiring process
May 13-July 13, 2022: Working period
July 13, 2022: Send for board approval
August 1, 2022: Implementation
The ideal candidate will be able to lead the process of establishing :
Duties
Fundraising strategy for new funding sources
Conduct research on new available funding opportunities in CSR, private sector, individual, online fundraising, fundraising events, etc.
Understand the market and what is available
Prioritise the findings
Consolidate findings in a short report for DT including recommendations
Communication strategy
Key questions to be answered in a participatory process:
What are the publics of DT’s communication?
Is advocacy for disabilities part of the communication?
Is it important to have a thematic communication for professionals working in the field of child protection, disability, migration etc.?
What are the key messages to each public?
What communication is needed for fundraising goals?
What communication channels should be used for what communication and what public (for example paper, webpage, online, email, social media etc)?
How much does DT want to invest in communication in general and for each public?
The consultant will:
Facilitate a discussion regarding:
DT’s Communication interests (both digital and traditional) and the logistics and investment of pursuing these.
The long term implementation of the final Communication/Fundraising strategy.
Offer feedback and advice on the discussion.
Determine which communication ideas are feasible to implement now based on current capacity and what would be needed to implement other ideas if current capacity is not sufficient.
Offer guidance on the feasibility of each proposed idea of discussion.
The consultant is expected to deliver the following:
A participatory approach throughout the strategy development process.
A comprehensive report on communication (max 10 pages) and on fundraising (max 10 pages).
A 5-year Communication/Fundraising Strategy.
Requirements
Facilitation skills
Previous experience in establishing a Communications/ Fundraising strategy using a participation-based approach
Experience building a communication strategy, especially in digital communication linked to fundraising
Understanding of child protection
Fluent in English
Proficiency in spoken Khmer is an asset*This position is based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia; however, we are willing to consider international applicants who are flexible and available to conduct regular meetings and discussions via Teams.*
