Aim of the internship:

Support the development of community-building activities at Yoga and Sports with Refugees (YSR), Lesvos Project, where community building is one of the organisation’s core pillars. Work closely with the team to identify and develop ways to support coaches, students, and volunteers, fostering connection, participation, and a sense of belonging. This unique internship combines academic learning with hands-on experience in a grassroots organisation that uses sports and movement to support displaced people, including asylum seekers and refugees.

Work Tasks:

Partnerships

Communication and representation of YSR among other organisations in Lesvos.
Develop and continue the partnerships with on the ground NGOs. organise events with them
Outreach to organisations and sport clubs and look for collaborations
Working on strengthening our network of partner organizations and gyms in Europe (for our coaches and students when they leave Greece)
Event planning

Plan sports events and tournaments, e.g. football and volleyball tournaments, events (with partner organizations)
Work with the volunteer and coach coordinator on the teambuilding
Organise teambuilding activities such as beachtrips, quiznights,...
Training Development

Prepare and organise training for the volunteers, staff and coaches about diverse themes, to be chosen.
Check possibilities for trainings in alignment with the project
Work on the development of trainings
Monitoring and Evaluation

Investigate the needs and wants of the students and coaches through surveys/ discussions
At the Gym:

Support with taking shifts at the gym
Keep attendance and registration of visitors
Follow the cleaning tasks
Participate in classes
Onboard new volunteers on their shifts
Administrative work

Support the Volunteer Coordinator to develop weekly schedules
Support the project manager on writing monthly reports about the activities in the project
Requirements - Competences and Qualifications

Minimum age of 21
Commitment of at least 3 months, if possible start in January 2027
Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
Strong organizational and time management skills
Independence and previous NGO experience is preferred
Passion for event organization and community
Passion for Sports and Human Rights
Some experience in administrative tasks
Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges
Flexibility and adaptability
