JOB SUMMARY

The Community Mobilizer is primarily responsible for community mobilization and support for community governance activities within a RELIEF (food security and livelihood) project, specifically linked to disaster response.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Conduct relief project awareness through meetings with target communities, including elders, community leaders, and target beneficiaries.
Sensitize the beneficiaries with their entitlement and duration for the cycle in which they will receive assistance.
Assist selection committee members to recall selection criteria and identify project beneficiaries in the targeted communities.
Assist and work with the MEAL team during the beneficiary verification to facilitate follow-up inquiries.
Conduct manual registration of the beneficiaries in collaboration with the scope registrar.
Work with and consult with relief committees during the planning of distribution sessions and the accessibility of distribution sites to all beneficiary groups.
Conduct regular community meetings in the project-targeted communities to know if they have met any challenges.
Facilitate and supervise long-term-running field tasks such as finger printing of the participants.
Act as an accountability focal person and sensitize target communities with the Complaint Response Feedback Mechanism.
Undertake accountability-focused monitoring and share accountability briefs with the IRS MEAL team on a weekly basis.
Collect market price data and share it with the program team by the end of every month.
Ensure all project visibility in the area of your operation.
Provide updates on the context of the target community and project progress to the project focal person on a weekly basis or daily during the crisis.
Perform any other activities as assigned by your supervisor.

Good inter-personal skills, commitment and motivation
Must be a Somali national-fluent in written and spoken Somali and local languages.
QUALIFICATIONS

Degree in Community Development, Development studies, Business or any other related fields.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Experience and knowledge of working with INGOs in Livelihood and Cash transfer, or Emergency programs.
Proficiency in English and local language, both oral and written.
Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Prior experience in community engagements and mobilizations, training, coaching and mentoring, proven problem-solving and decision-making skills.
