About the role
Working under the supervision of the Team Leader, Transnational Crime, the role will also work closely with other areas of the SU, including the Leadership and Skills team and Support Unit team to support events and activities in Laos. Beyond events coordination, the role is also responsible for reporting on each activity through the preparation of participant feedback forms and post-activity reporting, in collaboration with the MEL Coordinator and Team Leader TNC.
The Country Coordinator Laos will also play a role in supporting Gender Equality Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) across the portfolio by ensuring venues are accessible for people with disabilities, and where possible, embedding GEDSI into training content.
Key responsibilities
Work with the SU to provide timely, accurate and high-quality services to the Mekong Hub and Australian Embassy in Laos where necessary.
As a key member of the Support Unit team, actively promote a collaborative and positive culture and constructive ways of working across the team, through timely communication and information sharing, and active participation in all team activities and meetings.
Provide high quality events management support to MAP SU activities in Laos across the Transnational Crime, Leadership and Skills, and Support Unit portfolios and events calendars.
Support with translation and quality checking translated documents between Lao and English.
Lead on weekly media monitoring and distribution to external stakeholders.
Drive inclusive development: champion gender equality, disability, and social inclusion in all activities.
Prepare participant feedback forms and End of Activity Reports drawing on participant feedback at the end of each activity, with support from the MEL Coordinator and Team Leader.
Ensure MAP TNC engagement activities uphold DFAT’s standards in relation to child protection, preventing sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (PSEAH) and TNC program risk management.
Selection criteria
At least five years demonstrated experience in events management and logistics administration.
Experience with translation activities between English and Lao.
Experience working with and managing the needs of a diverse range of government and non-government stakeholders.
Experience working as part of a regional international development program with responsibility for country level activities.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Lao.
Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and knowledge management software (Microsoft).
Adapt to changing priorities with resilience and professionalism, including the willingness to travel within the Mekong subregion as required.
