Position Overview

The Development Manager will play a crucial role in supporting and executing development and donor engagement initiatives for GER3. This position involves managing weekly development activities, donor relations, event coordination, and strategic communication efforts to share information about GER3’s work and engage/retain donors. The Development Manager will collaborate closely with the CEO and other staff members to implement development strategies and donor engagement initiatives and contribute to the strategic growth of our organization.

The Development Manager will be a key spokesperson for the organization, advocating for our mission and building relationships with major donors, foundations, corporations, and other key stakeholders. This role offers the opportunity to play a crucial role in advancing the mission, growth, and financial sustainability of GER3.

Key Responsibilities

The Development Manager will foster relationships with current and prospective donors and supporters and strategically communicate information about GER3 and its current programs, with the goal of diversifying and expanding revenue streams, strengthening donor relationships, and enhancing the overall impact of the organization’s work.

1. Fundraising Strategy and Leadership

Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission, goals, and growth objectives.
Lead efforts to diversify and expand revenue streams, including individual donors, corporate partnerships, major gifts, foundations, grants, and planned giving.
Set clear fundraising targets, track performance, and adjust strategies as needed to meet organizational financial goals.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors, ensuring their engagement, retention, and stewardship.
2. Major Gifts and Donor Stewardship

Lead efforts to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.
Oversee the development of personalized donor stewardship plans to ensure that major donors receive timely recognition, engagement, and communication.
Create opportunities for direct engagement with the President, Board members, and key stakeholders to strengthen donor relationships.
Ensure the timely acknowledgment and follow-up for all donations.
3. Grant Writing and Foundations

Support development and submission of high-quality grant proposals, working closely with program staff to ensure alignment between proposals and organizational programs.
Build and maintain relationships with existing and potential grant-making organizations.
Monitor and manage the submission of required grant reports and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
4. Communications and Marketing

Support GER3 Communications to share rapid and timely updates about GER3’s response programs across various platforms (social media, website, email/newsletter).
Ensure the creation of engaging content for digital platforms to keep donors and supporters informed and engaged on all relevant aspects of GER3.
Develop compelling marketing and fundraising materials, including brochures, annual reports, donor appeals, and campaign collateral.
Develop and implement donor communication strategies, ensuring consistency in messaging and alignment with the organization’s mission.
5. Board and Executive Leadership Support

Work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to develop communication and fundraising strategies and engage them in fundraising efforts.
Provide regular updates to the CEO on key development initiatives.
Support the CEO and Board in identifying potential major donors, facilitating introductions, and leveraging their networks for fundraising success.
6. Events and Campaigns

Lead the planning and execution of major fundraising events, including galas, auctions, and other donor cultivation activities.
Oversee the development and implementation of annual giving campaigns, peer-to-peer fundraising efforts, and online fundraising initiatives.
7. Data Analysis and Reporting

Oversee the tracking and analysis of communication and fundraising data, providing reports to the President and Board on fundraising performance and key metrics.
Create and maintain a CRM (or similar) platform to track donor engagement.
Use data to inform decision-making, adjust strategies, and maximize fundraising efforts.
Maintain donor records and ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of donor data.
Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
At least 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit communications, development, fundraising, or donor relations.
Experience with fundraising software, donor databases, and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, DonorPerfect, Raiser’s Edge).
Knowledge of grant writing, corporate sponsorships, and individual giving strategies is a plus.
Skills and Abilities

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage donors and stakeholders effectively.
Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with donor management software.
Experience with social media and digital marketing for nonprofit organizations.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being able to work independently.
A passion for the mission and work of GER3, with a genuine interest in supporting the organization’s fundraising goals.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience coordinating fundraising events, online campaigns, or peer-to-peer fundraising efforts.
Multilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish, French, Arabic) are a plus.
