Description
Lifting Hands International is looking for a Director of Team Coordination & Well-being to join our team in Greece, starting January/February 2026, with a minimum six-month commitment. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
About Us
Lifting Hands International operates a community center in Serres, a small city about an hour away from Thessaloniki in Northern Greece. We work with a population of 1000+ asylum seekers and refugees at the local camps, providing regular aid distributions and a range of psychosocial support programs.
Role Profile
As the Director of Team Coordination & Well-being, you will lead recruitment and onboarding processes while fostering a healthy, supportive, and professional work environment. We are looking for someone skilled in listening, supporting, and guiding team members in diverse ways, helping both the team collectively and individuals thrive. This includes coordinating the team effectively, promoting well-being, planning ahead, and adapting gracefully to sudden changes or emerging challenges.
You will collaborate closely with the Country Director, Director of Operations, Director of Outreach & Development, and Director of Logistics, Distribution & Finance to support the team and ensure the effective implementation of LHI’s operations in Serres. Your role will be central in creating a positive and sustainable work culture that balances operational needs with the care and development of every team member. We are looking for someone who is hands-on, flexible, and excited to support the team and our operations at the Community Center. This role consists of approximately 40% in-person support at the Community Center, 30% additional team support, and 30% recruitment and administrative tasks.
Core Tasks
● Recruit visiting volunteers (screening applications, conducting interviews, and coordinating the pre-arrival onboarding process for staff and volunteers, including induction and safeguarding training.
● Collaborate with the director team to help oversee a large multicultural team, including visiting volunteers, community volunteers, and program managers.
● Provide field support at the Community Center as needed to ensure smooth program operations.
● Provide individual support and promote well-being through regular check-ins, facilitate reflective sessions and trainings, and offer guidance and constructive feedback to support team development.
● Serve as the safeguarding point of contact for visiting team members, and mediate HR-related conflicts and concerns constructively.
● Develop and maintain monitoring and evaluation tools to collect feedback and support collaborative project development.
● Support social and team-building events for the team, and help develop sustainable living and support structures that enable long-term team engagement.
● Ensure compliance with LHI’s policies and maintain updated policies (e.g., safeguarding, code of conduct).
● Provide regular updates to the Country Director on program developments.
● Engage with external partners and organizations to share best practices and support operational decisions.
Essential Criteria
● People Management: At least 1 year of experience in a coordination role, including people management in a multicultural team.● Humanitarian Experience, Well-being Support & Safeguarding: Previous experience in supporting diverse teams working in this context and a strong understanding of safeguarding policies.
● Teamwork: Strong communication skills with the ability to work efficiently in a large, multicultural team.
● Professionalism: Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
● Proactive: Ability to work independently● Commitment: Minimum six-month commitment required.● Language: Fluent in English.
Desirable Criteria
● Relevant degree(s) in a related field.
● Understanding of psychosocial support program implementation.
● Ability to commit 6–12 months.
● International driver’s license.
