Description
Mission:
The driver is responsible for transporting the Fondation Hirondelle team in Syria safely, securely, punctually and efficiently. The driver maintains the vehicles under their responsibility and ensures that they remain in good working order over time.
Reporting lines:
Line manager and operational supervisor : Support and services Coordinator
Functional and operational relations : Fondation Hirondelle team in Syria and staff members on assignment
Qualifications :
Valid Syrian driver's license.
Minimum 5 years of professional driving experience.
Clean driving record
Experience driving in humanitarian or NGO environments (preferred)
Knowledge of local roads and security conditions and Syrian driving regulation.
Basic vehicle maintenance skills.
Language requirements (Arabic required; English desirable)
Ability to travel to remote locations.
Rules & Expected Behaviour:
The Driver must comply with the arrangements established for transporting the Foundation team.
All movements of the Project vehicle and the transport of persons and/or goods are subject to the approval of the Coordinator or Administrator.
Only Project staff and persons authorised by management may travel in the Project vehicle.
Armed persons or persons in (para-)military uniform are not permitted to travel in the Project vehicle.
Private use of the vehicle is prohibited. In exceptional circumstances, it may be authorised by the Project Coordinator.
The Project vehicle may not be used to transport private or commercial goods.
The consumption of alcohol or narcotic substances on board is strictly prohibited.
Apart from the Coordinator, the driver is the only person authorised to drive the vehicle assigned to them.
Main Responsibilities:
Complete the logbook and ensure the daily engine check and all checks (engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, tire pressure, lights, and battery, fuel.....).
Drive carefully and comply with speed limits and traffic regulations.
Wear a seat belt and require passengers to do the same.
Monitor and safeguard the vehicle while on duty. The driver must always remain close to the vehicle. If the driver has to leave it, another staff member must take responsibility for the vehicle during the driver's absence.
Avoid overloading and excessive loads.
Follow the approved mission routes and work locations.
Keep the interior and exterior of the vehicles clean.
Report any damage to a vehicle directly to management.
Notify management at least one week in advance of any required repairs or maintenance.
Supporting office logistics when not driving.
Assist during emergency response operations.
Ability to travel to remote locations.
