Food for the Hungry (FH/U) is a Christian international relief and development organization that has been working in Uganda since 1989. FH is currently operating programs in Asia, Latin America and Africa with support offices in the UK, Canada, Switzerland, United States of America and Japan. FH’s primary goal is to end all forms of poverty World-wide. FH promotes practice of performance, accountability, and risk management in line with FH’s “Transforming Field Experience(TFE)” re-imagination initiative. In Uganda, FH is operational in the Districts of Adjumani, Kitgum, Lamwo, Kween, Mbale, Namutumba and Amudat Districts implementing programs in four main sectors of Education; Food Security and Livelihoods; Health/Nutrition and Disaster Risk Reduction; with the Head office located in Kampala.

FH/Uganda is actively seeking for qualified candidates committed to its Heartbeat and Corporate Strategy to fill the career openings below on a rolling basis;

Job Summary

 

Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Program Director (PD), this role will be part of the Program Delivery Team. The EYA specialist will lead in making FH the partner of choice in Education, Youth and Adolescent programming in Uganda. Provide substantive and hands-on support to Area Programs (APs) and technical officers to implement the FH Y&A strategy. The incumbent will be the go to person for FH’s Community System for Accountability and Feedback (C-SAFE), Gender, diversity, Protection and inclusion strategic initiatives. Will ensure strong policy engagement, collaboration, private sector partnerships in the areas of Youth entrepreneurship, skills development, Adolescent, Sexual, Reproductive Health Rights(ASRHR), Y&A participation and engagement. Will also promote organizational growth and portfolio diversification and contribute to strategy development whilst positioning FH a cross all districts of operation in the EYA space

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Key Result #1: Education, Youth & Adolescent(EYA) Program strategy implementation (20%)

 

Key Result #2: Strategic partnerships development for business acquisition and growth (15%)

 

Key Result #3: Program Quality and impact (25%)

 

Key Result #4: Networking and External Engagement with technical working groups, donors, potential partners (20%)

 

Key Result #5: C-SAFE, Gender, Protection and Inclusion (20%)

 

Education & Experience

 

Typically, 5+ years of experience in Education, Youth & Adolescent programing, compliance, external engagement, Gender mainstreaming, Safeguarding, financial and project management experience. Experience with working with private and institutional donors. This will include UNWFP, UNFAO, UNHCR, UKAID/FCDO, GIZ, KOICA, USAID, EU-ECHO, PRM

Non-profit ministry experience is a plus. Program leadership experience that includes risk and compliance management, financial, and opportunity development

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Education development studies/social sciences, law, Entrepreneurship, Business studies.

Master’s degree in development studies/Social sciences, Education, Public health, Business Administration project management preferred.
