HI India seeks applications from qualified candidates for the following position.
Finance & Accounts Officer–1 position
Terms & Conditions: Fixed Term (Renewable contract subject to finding situation)
Location: Aizawl, Mizoram
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and ensure project accounts are in line with HI’s internal procedures, donor guidelines, and Indian legal requirements.
Ensure accurate and timely submission of monthly financial reports and closure documents.
Oversee bank reconciliations and logbooks, and conduct accounting controls.
Ensure payments and remittances comply with local regulations, taxation laws, and accounting standards.
Identify and alert financial risks and propose mitigation measures to the finance manager.
Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of financial reports with organizational policies.
Conduct thorough reviews of transactions and validate supporting documents.
Maintain clear documentation and audit trails for accountability and donor reviews
Prepare and monitor cash flow forecasts to ensure timely fund transfers to project partners.
Conduct regular Budget Follow-Up to ensure expenses are aligned with the approved budget.
Assist in project budget forecasting and expenditure monitoring.
Support the preparation and submission of donor financial reports.
Prepare and facilitate internal and external audits, ensuring timely availability of records.
Maintain proper documentation and systematic archiving of financial records (both soft and hard copies).
Coordinate with auditors and finance teams to address audit findings and compliance gaps.
Qualification and Skills Required:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field.
3-5 years of relevant experience in financial and accounts management, preferably in the NGO or development sector.
Prior experience in handling financial operations for projects implemented through partners.
In-depth knowledge of Indian financial regulations, taxation (GST, TDS), FCRA, and statutory compliance.
Proficiency in financial software (Tally, Navision, or similar accounting systems).
Experience in managing financial reporting for donor-funded projects.
* Fluency in English and Hindi. Knowledge of Mizo languages is an advantage.
