Description

The Role

We are seeking an exceptional, entrepreneurial individual as Germany Director to lead our growing presence in Germany and spearhead a major new project supported by the Gates Foundation. This project is in the early stages of launching the ‘Strategic Communications and Advocacy Lab (SCAL)’ which is designed to shift dominant narratives around Official Development Assistance (ODA), and to create the political space for government action on this.

This is a high-impact leadership role at the intersection of strategic communications, politics, and global development. You’ll be responsible for building powerful narratives that resonate with German audiences and leaders, building strong networks, and helping shape the national conversation about Germany’s role in the world.

Furthermore, you will be overseeing the expansion of Future Advocacy’s presence in Germany, with the opportunity to lead, and contribute to, some very exciting and impactful projects working with some of our other brilliant clients.

We are looking for someone with sharp instincts, political fluency, and a passion for using communications to drive change. You’ll be joining a small, happy and dynamic team who are smart, collaborative, and mission-driven, and playing a central role in shaping our future.

Recruit and manage local consultants and agencies as needed to deliver high-quality work.
Contribute to our vibrant internal culture, collaborating closely with colleagues in London and Brussels and shaping the organisation’s wider direction.
What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a strategic thinker and skilled communicator with a strong track record of making change happen. You’ll ideally bring most or all of the following:

Deep knowledge of German politics, including strong existing networks in the political, media, and civil society spaces.
A flair for storytelling, with excellent media relations skills and connections in German media.

Experience developing and implementing digital strategies and content that cuts through.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills - fluent in both German and English.
Confidence, credibility, and presence when engaging with senior stakeholders, including policymakers and funders.
The ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, while also being a generous and collaborative team member.
A self-starter mindset with the entrepreneurial drive to build something new and impactful.
A strong sense of purpose, and commitment to a more just, sustainable, and equitable world.
The following would be an asset:
