ABOUT THE ROLE IN GENERAL
The Key Account Manager for EU Funding will serve as Tdh’s primary representative to European Union
institutions in Brussels. The role will manage relationships across all relevant EU funding bodies, including DG ECHO, DG INTPA, DG JUST, AMIF, Horizon Europe, and others. The Key Account Manager will maintain a strategic EU donor engagement plan, manage Tdh’s presence on EU platforms, and coordinate EU donor intelligence gathering. The role will also provide technical and strategic support to Tdh country offices in accessing EU funding opportunities, ensuring quality submissions and compliance with donor requirements.
While this role is hosted at the Tdh Regional Office in Budapest, the role has a global mandate, and the
incumbent will report to the Head of Sector Institutional Partnership Development in Tdh Headquarters in
Lausanne.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Donor Engagement and Representation
Represent Tdh in Brussels-based donor meetings, networking events, and EU civil society platforms.
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in DG ECHO, DG INTPA, DG JUST, DG HOME
(AMIF), DG NEAR, Horizon Europe and other EU-funding programs.
Proactively engage with EU officials, thematic focal points, and EU delegations.
Account Management & Donor Intelligence
Maintain a comprehensive database of EU contacts, funding priorities, and upcoming opportunities.
Regularly update Tdh profile on the EU’s Funding & Tenders Portal and ECHO’s Single Form/HOPE
platform.
Monitor, analyze, and share intelligence on EU policy, funding trends, and calls for proposals.
Provide regular briefings to internal teams on funding opportunities and strategic donor
positioning.
EU Platform and Network Management
Coordinate Tdh’s participation in Brussels-based EU civil society platforms (e.g., VOICE, CONCORD).
Ensure Tdh’s visibility and active contribution to advocacy positions relevant to child protection,
migration, justice, health, and climate.
Grant Development and Support
Support country and regional teams in identifying and prioritizing EU funding opportunities.
Provide technical support and guidance on grant writing, Single Form submissions (ECHO), and Funding & Tenders Portal applications (NDICI, Horizon, AMIF, JUST).
Ensure proposal compliance with EU guidelines, policies, and contractual requirements.
Internal Coordination and Capacity Building
Act as the organizational focal point for EU funding across departments.
Train and mentor country office and HQ staff on EU donor requirements and proposal development
processes.
Facilitate internal learning and knowledge-sharing on EU donor engagement.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced degree in International Relations, Development Studies, Political Science, Law, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 5 years of experience in institutional fundraising or donor relations. Previous experience with the EU is an asset.
Proven experience managing relationships with DG ECHO, DG INTPA, or other EU institutions.
Strong track record of securing and managing EU-funded projects.
Experience representing an NGO or network in Brussels is an advantage.

Strong knowledge of EU institutional landscape and funding mechanisms (ECHO, NDICI, JUST, AMIF, Horizon Europe).
Excellent interpersonal and networking skills.
Strong communication, negotiation, and representation skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across diverse teams.
Excellent writing, analytical, and strategic planning skills.
LANGUAGE(S)
Fluent written and spoken English; knowledge of French is a significant advantage.
