Description
Are you interested in working in the migration field? Do you want to learn more about project management? Open Cultural Center (OCC) is a non-profit organisation (NGO) based in Spain and Greece that works towards the inclusion of refugee and migrant people. As the Language Lab Project Assistant, you will support the team in the organisation of online and in person language classes for migrant people, social and cultural events, as well as in the administrative aspects of project management.
Main tasks
Responsible for scheduling class openings and ensuring exams and attendance are up to date;
Support with volunteer teacher recruitment and onboarding;
Organisation and participation in language exchanges and cultural events (2 times a month usually on Friday evenings);
Database (Airtable) updates and management;
Organisation and participation in cultural events;
Correspondence with teachers, students, and other stakeholders;
Team meetings and updates;
Production of materials for Language Lab social media pages;
Support the Language Lab team in performing administrative tasks;
Support in grant applications, including writing proposals and justifications;
Take part in the ESC activities (organization of team building activities, ESC project, awareness raising in schools, etc.);
Support the rest of the team and participate actively in the organization’s activities;
Requirements
The position mandates that candidates must travel from Greece.
English B2 and/or Spanish B1; (note that team meetings and training sessions will be conducted in Spanish so in case you have no prior level in Spanish, you will have to follow Spanish courses in the first months);
Motivation to work in a multicultural environment;
Positive approach to problem-solving;
Teaching experience will be considered a plus;
Ability to work autonomously;
Strong interest in working in the nonprofit/social sector and general knowledge of the migration context of Europe.
