About Mari Research and Development (MRD):

Mari Research and Development (MRD) is a registered non-profit organization based in Syria and Iraq, dedicated to peacebuilding, civil dialogue, protection, psychosocial support, legal aid, livelihoods, and community resilience. MRD works closely with local communities and international partners to empower vulnerable populations, including survivors of detention and torture, families of the missing, women, and youth.

Reports to: Legal Field Advisor

Position Purpose

The Legal Assistant delivers direct legal information, counseling, and referrals to beneficiaries, with a focus on access to civil documentation and legal rights.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct client intake and provide legal information.
Support applications for civil documentation and follow-up.
Deliver community awareness sessions on legal rights.
Maintain confidential case files and records.
Refer cases to external actors as appropriate.
Qualifications
University degree in Law or related field.
Practicing lawyer with at least 5 years of experience.
Knowledge of civil documentation processes in Syria.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Arabic required.
