In 2020, CRS created Isidro Investments, LLC (“Isidro”) – an investment vehicle focused on lending to emerging agricultural enterprises with capital needs of $25,000 to $500,000. Isidro currently operates in Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua.
The Lending Operations Spe cialist will support all of Isidro’s back-office lending operations, including client KYC, loan compliance reviews, disbursement and expense processing, revenue and expense accrual calculations, as well as portfolio management and loan monitoring.
We are looking for a candidate with strong financial skills and attention to detail. including a solid understanding of financial statement review and analysis. In addition, the successful applicant will be a strong collaborator, with the ability to work effectively as part of a small team, including with both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Client KYC and Loan Compliance
Complete client KYC screens, in accordance with Isidro policies and procedures.
As needed, create and maintain policy checklists for use in evaluating lending transactions for compliance with Isidro policies.
Create and maintain closing checklists for loan transactions.
Review lending transactions to ensure compliance with Isidro policies, using policy checklists, and support team members in such reviews.
Disbursement and Expense Processing
Create and maintain disbursement checklists based on individual loan agreement terms.
Create and maintain other checklists / standardized formats for review of key documents, including client contracts and borrowing base calculations.
Maintain borrowing base calculations for each client, as relevant based on loan agreement terms.
Review disbursement requests from clients and complete disbursement checklist prior to any loan disbursements.
Prepare disbursement wire transfer requests, for approval by Isidro’s Co-Director and Treasurer; send approved requests for processing.
Review supplier invoices and submit requests for payment.
Accounting, Accruals and Loan Repayments
Calculate monthly interest income across the portfolio, based on balances outstanding.
As needed, calculate loan payoff amounts, including accrued interest.
Calculate, as needed, monthly expense accruals.
Coordinate with accounting team to record accruals, disbursements and repayments of loan principal, as well as any portfolio impairments.
Complete monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
Assist with preparation of Isidro’s quarterly financial statements, budget comparisons, and forecasting.
Loan Monitoring and Portfolio Management
Track key repayment, reporting and other contractually defined dates for each client.
Prepare account statements and payment reminders for clients for upcoming payment dates, including calculations of accrued interest and any principal balances due.
Create, update and distribute a weekly report on loan status, including upcoming due dates and any missed payments / portfolio at risk.
Review monthly reporting files from clients, updating borrowing base calculations for individual clients based on payments received under contracts. Develop a reporting format to alert Isidro management and clients of any borrowing base deficiencies and remedies required.
Review quarterly financial reports from clients, conduct analysis of trends versus budget and over time. Prepare summaries/highlights for review with the Co-Directors and relevant Investment Officer.
Conduct periodic monitoring visits, as required.
Track and report on portfolio-level metrics, as outlined in Isidro’s performance management plan.
Ensure post-investment monitoring and deal documents are uploaded to the Isidro Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or other relevant field required.
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in operations role, with prior credit operations experience strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience working in multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams.
Experience within the agricultural sector preferred.
Required Languages – English and Spanish fluency required.
Travel– Up to 25%.
