Medical Coordinators play a crucial role in shaping and executing the medical strategy of our projects, ensuring the highest standards of medical care.

This role requires close collaboration with the Head of Mission and medical department to oversee all medical activities and resources. They are responsible for ensuring that patients receive quality medical services according to MAGNA’s principles, while improving the overall health and humanitarian conditions for the communities we serve. This diverse and challenging role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact through leadership, strategy, and hands-on involvement in delivering essential medical care.

Responsibilities:

Define and implement the medical strategy in coordination with the Head of Mission and medical department.
Plan and manage all medical activities, ensuring alignment with MAGNA’s policies and ethical guidelines.
Translate health needs into a strategic vision and project objectives, ensuring resources are allocated accordingly.
Monitor and update the medical content of MAGNA’s country policies, medical strategy, annual plans, and budget.
Ensure the quality and appropriateness of all medical interventions, working to remove barriers to patient safety and effective care.
Continuously assess medical and humanitarian needs through exploratory missions and health information systems.
Supervise and monitor medical and humanitarian programmes through project visits, identifying and addressing challenges in implementation.
Plan, assist to recruit, and train medical staff, and support Project Coordinators and teams in delivering medical activities.
Manage the pharmacy and medical equipment in collaboration with logistics, including medical orders and purchase requests.
Prepare reports on the medical evolution of our projects and oversee the medical library.
Represent MAGNA in discussions with local medical authorities and partner organisations, ensuring a strong medical-humanitarian response and supporting advocacy efforts.
Required knowledge and skills

Professional experience

Essential, degree in medicine or other paramedical studies.

At least two years in relevant positions in humanitarian aid.
Essential experience with MAGNA or other NGOs
Essential working experience in developing countries.
Knowledge and skills

Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
Essential, mission language; local working language would be an asset
