Description
Purpose of the position:
The Movement Cooperation Officer supports the development and implementation of the delegation’s cooperation objectives with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, in line with ICRC policies and in consultation with National Societies (NS). The role focuses on strengthening constructive relationships between the ICRC and other Movement partners, particularly the National Societies in the countries covered by the ICRC Regional Delegation in Warsaw (RWSU).
Main duties and responsibilities:
• Implement ICRC cooperation policy and objectives in coordination with National Societies (NSs) and the IFRC across the region.
• Support ICRC departments in building and maintaining effective partnerships with NSs.
• Draft and share implementation rate messages and quarterly updates with NS leadership.
• Review and contribute to cooperation documents such as IFRC Unified Planning and other joint strategies.
• Organize and participate in regular meetings with the Polish Red Cross (PRC), other NSs, and IFRC counterparts, ensuring smooth communication and follow-up.
• Develops a solid knowledge of the ICRC’s objectives with the NSs covered by the Warsaw Delegation, as well as a good understanding of Red Cross Movement dynamics in the region.
• Provides direct support to the partnership of the ICRC with the Romanian Red Cross.
• Support planning and logistics for field visits across the region (Baltic States, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Moldova).
• Maintain regular contact with PRC leadership and departments, contributing to coordination, monitoring, and joint initiatives,
• Collect, review, and monitor financial and narrative reports from NSs, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Maintain budget dashboards and contribute to institutional, operational, and financial reporting.
• Contribute to the development of cooperation strategies and the delegation’s planning processes, including gathering inputs from other ICRC departments.
• Ensure proper documentation, filing, and operational memory of cooperation activities.
• Represent the Cooperation Department when required and support the coordinator in his absence.
• Produce high-quality reports, meeting minutes, and translations (Polish–English).
Professional experience and education required
• University degree in international relations, humanities and political studies, or a related field.
• 6–9 years of relevant professional experience, ideally with humanitarian or international organizations.
• Strong understanding of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and reporting skills.
• Fluency in Polish and English (spoken and written).
• Proficiency in MS Office and collaborative tools.
• Availability to travel within the region.
