Pivot is an NGO that has been collaborating with Madagascar’s Ministry of Public Health (MSANP) since 2014 to upgrade the public health system in order to provide quality care to the population of Ifanadiana district. In partnership with the Malagasy government, we are building a health system model whose approach adapts and evolves according to its impact on the population. Our approach is based on the following actions at all levels of the health system - community, health center, district hospital: improving clinical care, upgrading the system’s capabilities, and scientific innovation. This model is in line with MSANP policies and aims to produce fast, consistent and sustainable outcomes for the population in terms of health and access to care, with a view to establishing Universal Health Coverage.

 

Pivot is looking for a new National Director to oversee the implementation of Pivot's operating plan.

 

Job Title: National Director

 

Assignment Location: Antananarivo

 

Commitment: 2 years, renewable

 

Salary Range: $67,000 to $94,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Position Overview: Pivot is seeking a new National Director, who will oversee the implementation of Pivot's operating plan.

 

Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the National Director:

 

Is part of and leads the Pivot Leadership Team (PLT)

Works closely with the Pivot Science Director

Directly supervises 6 Directors and 1 Executive Assistant

Is the liaison with the Executive Committee and the Steering Committee of Pivot’s Board of Directors

Responsibilities:

 

  1. Strategy

 

Assist in establishing the organization's strategic orientations

Carry out the strategic plan, and the annual planning and budgeting exercises

Ensure the effective and efficient use of resources dedicated to the project as a whole

  1. Leadership and Management

 

Direct the organization's Leadership Team (PLT) and Senior Management Team (SMT)

Ensure the smooth operation of the organization and the implementation of procedures

Ensure that our organization's values are applied in daily life and in project design

Provide continuing skills upgrading for Pivot staff

  1. Outside Representation

 

Manage Pivot’s relationships at the government level - including ministerial leadership and technical and financial partners

Represent Pivot internationally

Provide relationship and strategic support for fundraising initiatives

Represent Pivot on documents related to the partner engagement

  1. Technical Support

 

Support the development and implementation of activities to achieve the annual goals set for the various areas:

Operations Department

Medical Department

Engagement Department

Department of Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, Accountability and Learning

Participate in organizational documentation in order to better capitalize on institutional knowledge and experience

Work closely with the Pivot Science team on specific research projects

Profile required

 

Minimum of 5 years of higher education in Management and Administration or have a degree in public health - MPH or other equivalent degree

Have at least seven years of work experience in project management and management, including four years in a leadership role

Advanced experience in project design and implementation required

Certified project management training is a plus

Diverse experience in a variety of areas is a plus

Advanced experience in team management and project operating management required

Advanced experience and multi-sector partner relationships required

Knowledge of the health system in Madagascar is a plus

Experience in representing a large, high-profile organization to donors, sponsors, outside partners and authorities

International experience in an under-resourced setting is a plus

Ability to work in French and English is mandatory and Malagasy is a plus
