PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Nutritionist is responsible for leading International Medical Corps’ Nutrition in Emergencies (NiE) interventions across project sites, ensuring that activities are effectively planned, implemented, and monitored in line with national policies, humanitarian standards, and donor requirements. The role focuses on improving the nutritional health of vulnerable populations, particularly children and pregnant or lactating women, through assessments, targeted interventions such as therapeutic feeding, micronutrient supplementation, and nutrition education. By coordinating with government clusters and partners, the Nutritionist works to reduce malnutrition-related risks, strengthen resilience, and safeguard the well-being of affected communities.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct nutritional assessment (anthropometric measurements such as mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) and edema among children and pregnant and lactating women;
Provide infant and young child feeding support, including promotion and protection of breastfeeding and appropriate complementary feeding;
Manage acute malnutrition among children under 5, including treatment of severe and moderate cases with therapeutic foods and medical support;
Provide micronutrient supplementation to pregnant women and nutritionally at-risk (NAR) children;
Deliver nutrition education specifically among parents and care givers of identified malnourished children and nutritionally at-risk pregnant women using available IEC materials.
Coordinate and collaborate with the government’s Nutrition Cluster and Food Security Cluster in the area;
In collaboration with M & E Officer, establish and maintain appropriate records of NAR children and pregnant mothers supported by the project and monitor progress during the treatment period.
Ensure proper hand-over of responsibilities to local nutrition office for essential follow-ups after the end of emergency response.
EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition/Nutrition and Dietetics/Community Nutrition;
Must hold a Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) license as Registered Nutritionist Dietician (RND)
Must have undergone trainings in Nutrition in Emergencies (NiE);
Must have at least 1-2 years’ experience working as a nutritionist in public health setting.
