We are currently seeking to engage a passionate, dynamic, and enthusiastic Policy and Advocacy Lead, on a two-year contract. The holder of the position will report to the Policy and Programme Manager. This is a full-time position and will be based at FEMNET’s secretariat in Nairobi, Kenya.

Job purpose

FEMNET is seeking to recruit a dynamic, passionate, African feminist to serve as Policy and Advocacy Lead on a 2-year contract, to co-create, shape, lead, strengthen and deliver FEMNET’s Advocacy and Influencing Strategy. The Policy and Movement Building Manager will be instrumental in shaping FEMNET’s policy and advocacy priorities and strengthening these within FEMNET membership.

Knowledge and Skills

Approachable with strong interpersonal & listening skills together with the ability to empower their team
Highly motivated, result oriented and self-driven person able to adopt FEMNET’s policies, rules and regulations with understanding of due process, financial transparency and accountability
Knowledgeable of training methodologies and developing easy to use materials and tools such as handbooks and toolkits.
A team player who promotes of an environment of support conducive to cooperation, collegiality, consultation, and collaboration in all engagements.
Willing and able to travel mainly in the Africa region.
A high level of self-awareness, initiative, sound judgement, personal energy, passion and flexibility.
Must align with values as outlined in the Charter of Feminist Principles for African Feminists
Knowledge of strategies for women’s movement building and feminist leadership including key regional and global women’s rights policy frameworks
Must have skills:

Strategic Management skills;
Coordination and Program Management skills ,
Monitoring and Evaluation skills,
Fund raising and resource mobilisation skills,
Communication and good presentation skills,
Partnership and Networking skills.
People Management Skills

Education

Have a Masters/Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or any other relevant discipline from a recognised university

Experience

At least 5 years relevant work experience at international, regional or sub- regional level at a Not-for-Profit organization or private sector
