General Description of the Role (Brief):

 

In close line management of the Head of Programmes, Program Development Coordinator will be responsible to support the organization’s business development and expansion through diversification of partners and submission of quality Concept Notes and proposals.

 

Business Development: 70%

 

Works closely with Programmes and MEAL teams to identify the gaps and needs in the areas of intervention.

Ensure donor mapping in the areas of interventions.

Prepare and update AFH general Portfolio as well as sectors portfolios to be shared with different donors and partners

Coordinate with the MEAL team and recommend assessments as per the strategic orientation of the organization

Identify, where appropriate, relevant/competitive agreements (consortia, regional projects, etc.) and facilitate negotiations.

Proactively work with partners and consortia to identify and win appropriate grant opportunities

Design and develop quality Concept Notes and Proposals as per donor strategies and AFH’s strategic orientation.

Enforces adherence to proposal development and submission deadlines.

Observe donor strategies and priorities to anticipate calls for proposals and identify bidding opportunities.

Ensure to the brief Program team on donor strategies and trends

Engage with identified donors to understand their perception of AFH's current programming and identify their areas of interest to target fundraising efforts.

Organize the final presentation of concept notes and project proposals to donors.

Check, prior to submission, that the final project proposal/concept note meets donor guidelines and expectations, consistency between budget and technical description, and overall quality

Provide technical training on proposal writing for Program and MEAL staff.

Takes a lead role in post-proposal debriefing meetings to discuss the process and identify lessons learned

Takes a lead role in managing capture and proposal development team(s) from pre-positioning, to preparation, to solicitation release, to submission and after-action reviews, under the oversight of the Head of Programmes.

Donor relation and Coordination 20%

 

Develop and maintain links with institutional donors and International Organizations and promote AFH as an implementing partner.

Attend partners meeting and workshops and share meeting minutes with senior management

Prepare and submit vetting documents as per donor/partner request.

Reporting and archiving 10%:

 

  • Ensure to submit quarterly reports on submitted grants

 

  • Prepare and support donor reporting

 

  • Keep track of successful proposal documents hard and soft

 

  • Record lessons learned of unsuccessful submissions

 

The position holder will be required to execute relevant tasks assigned by the Line Manager
