World Neighbors (WN) is an International non-governmental development agency (NGO), working in Indonesia to inspire people and strengthen communities to find lasting solutions to hunger, poverty and disease, and promote a healthy environment.

 

WN is seeking highly qualified candidates to fill the position of Program Officer for a new Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction project. The position is based in WN’s office in Bali, with an expectation of approximately 70% travel to remote locations in Nusa Tenggara Barat and Nusa Tenggara Timur.

 

The position is open to Indonesian nationals only. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

 

Summary of Position

 

The Program Officer is an integral part of the WN program team, whose overall responsibility is to ensure WN’s programs are planned well, completed on schedule and on budget while meeting/exceeding the program’s objectives.

 

Build the capacity of partner staff in all program areas, community facilitation, M&E and reporting.

 

Support WN’s Senior M&E Officer in data collection, validation and analysis.

 

Review and approve partner’s financial and activity narrative reports to WN.

 

Represent WN with government and private sector at the regency level.

 

Oversee program implementation undertaken by local NGO partners through leadership, support, and monitoring. Main program areas will be:

 

Community-based DRR, following the Desa Tangguh model

 

Community-based CCA, following the ProKlim model

 

Sustainable agriculture and natural resource management in upland areas

 

Building the DRR and CCA capacity of regency (Kabupaten) government and multi stakeholder forums

 

Supporting community-based saving and loans groups

 

Minimum Requirements

 

Bachelor’s degree (S1) in a relevant discipline.

 

A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the development sector with rural communities in Indonesia (preferably in eastern Indonesia).

 

Knowledge and practical experience in two or more of the following technical areas: disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, sustainable agriculture, rural livelihoods, natural resource management.

 

Proficiency in MS Office software including Microsoft Excel and Word.

 

Ability to work a very flexible schedule.
