The Programme Manager will oversee the day-to-day management of programme activities.
Reporting to the Senior Programme Manager and working with WFD's global teams, they will, support at all stages of the programme cycle from inception through to final evaluation. The role will require working on implementation of all relevant components under the allocated grant, including activities engaging MPs, parliamentary groups, CSOs and other relevant stakeholders in the country
The Programme Manager will have an opportunity to work with high-level regional stakeholders which include national Parliaments and government agencies, think tanks, research institutions and universities, as well as civil society in responding to the challenges of fostering democracy in the Solomon Islands
The core skills and experience we are looking for are;
Educated to degree level with first-hand experience of designing, implementing and managing a portfolio of programmes - minimum 2 years’ experience.
In-depth knowledge of the political environment in the Solomon Islands including of recent developments in accountability and transparency mechanisms within parliament and government
Exceptional project and programme management skills, particularly relating to governance and democracy programmes
Proposal development, contracting, procurement, grant management, donor compliance, financial management and control skills
Experience in; risk management, proposal development, contracting, procurement, grant management, donor compliance, financial scrutiny, research/analysis, and reporting in English.
Experience using programme management systems and tools. Intermediate level Microsoft suite skills.
Experience organising and managing high profile and complex events.
Senior stakeholder analysis, development and management skills
Excellent level of written and oral communication skills in English and Solomons Pijin
Experience producing accurate briefing documents and communications
A self-starter with the flexibility to work in a fast-changing environment with the ability to manage and prioritise a range of operational, financial and administrative responsibilities
Ability to work independently and effectively, and drive to manage workload, working with international, remote teams and with limited supervision
