Description

The Protection Specialist will provide technical leadership, supervision, and coordination for the OB’s protection programming in Syria. The role focuses on ensuring the quality and accountability of Child Protection, GBV, and general protection activities. This position is technically responsible for guiding field protection teams, strengthening reporting and monitoring systems, and representing the organization in relevant coordination forum, including protection clusters, sub-clusters, and working groups.

Key responsabilities:

Provide technical guidance and support to Syria-based Protection teams (Child Protection, GBV, and general protection).

Supervise, coach, and mentor field staff to ensure adherence to international protection standards and best practices.

Ensure safe, survivor-centered, and child-sensitive approaches are applied across all protection interventions.

Review and provide feedback on field reports, case management, and referral mechanisms.

Represent the organization in Protection, GBV, and Child Protection Cluster meetings, working groups, and inter-agency for in Syria.

Ensure timely submission of 5Ws, reports, updates, and other cluster reporting requirements.

Strengthen relationships with UN agencies, NGOs, and local actors to enhance coordination and referral pathways.

Develop and deliver training modules for staff on Protection, CP, GBV, PSEAH, and safeguarding principles.

Support continuous learning and knowledge-sharing across field teams.

Collaborate with MEAL to develop and track protection indicators, ensuring data is disaggregated by sex, age, and disability.

Analyze protection trends and provide actionable recommendations for program adaptation.

Document lessons learned and support integration of best practices into ongoing programming.

Qualifications:

Degree in Social Sciences, Law, Human Rights, Psychology, or other related fields.

Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in a technical role, focusing on protection within humanitarian contexts.

Strong knowledge of protection principles, frameworks, and international humanitarian law.

Familiarity with cluster coordination mechanisms and experience in 5Ws reporting/submission.

Fluency in Arabic and advanced proficiency in English, with excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills.

High proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office applications, data collection, and analysis tools.
