The Senior Finance Officer will work with Finance Team colleagues to provide financial reports and support to budget holders, lead on the organization's procurement and payment processes, and ensure timely and accurate accounting records and financial management information.
Reporting and budgeting
Work with teams to ensure accurate financial information, including timely budget vs actual report, forecasts, etc
Ensure compliance with donor reporting requirements
Support internal departments, including country offices (in Nigeria, DRC, and Bangladesh at the moment), to maintain financial records
Prepare and review allocations vs budgets and program delivery
Review financial reports with budget holders, supporting them to make informed decisions based on financial information.
Ensure timely and accurate financial disbursements and up to date accounting ledgers, including preparing and uploading batch payments within our policies
Preparation of journal entries to ensure accurate accruals-based management and financial reporting on a monthly basis
Lead on the processing of payments and reconciliation of bank accounts; supporting the reconciliation of balance sheet items
Lead on procurement processes, including invoicing and payments and support the revision of the procurement process.
Assist in resolving financial related queries from team members, third parties and other stakeholders
Assist with collecting and reporting financial information as required by other staff/donors/partners
Training finance, program and other team members on processes related to finance and finance systems.
Responsible for line managing and mentoring the Junior Finance Officer/Intern.

Experienced finance professional
Previous experience with nonprofit organizations, particularly in US registered not for profit
Great communication skills
Thorough and attention to detail
5+ years finance experience
Experience in accounting for grants
Humanitarian or international development experience desired
Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks Online or similar accounting packages
Knowledge of expense management, purchase order, payment systems and Slack communication system
Excellent Excel / google spreadsheet skills
Professional accounting qualification desired
