Helen Keller Intl is an international Non-Profit Organization currently working in 14 countries in Africa, Kenya included. Helen Keller Intl was co-founded by Helen Keller. The organization is guided by her fierce optimism and belief in human potential. Since 1915, the organization has delivered life-changing programs that are proven and science-based targeting vulnerable families in places where the need is great, but access to care is limited. We understand the unique challenges and opportunities each county faces, and we tailor our programs to provide actionable recommendations for improved health outcomes.
Helen Keller through Transforming Lives with Nutrition Actions (TLNA)aims at understanding sociocultural and gender-related barriers and opportunities in accessing nutrition and health services to facilitate the co-design of community-based strategies that (a) enhance women’s and adolescent girls’ decision-making autonomy to access health and nutrition services, and (b) strengthen gender inclusive delivery of nutrition interventions and health systems to improve nutritional outcomes for women and children under five years. The study is funded by Global Affairs Canada and currently implemented in Cambodia, Kenya and Senegal.
As part of the program, Helen Keller is engaged in addressing the feasibility of a co-designed intervention aimed at strengthening health and nutrition counselling approaches and is seeking enumerators to conducted pre-test and post-test surveys with women clients to evaluate their experiences in and perception on using nutrition services In Kaloleni and Ganze sub-counties. Pre-test surveys will take place in late July 2026 with post-test surveys taking place in September 2026. This is a temporary position, and the enumerators will be engaged for three weeks during pre-survey and/or three weeks for post surveys.
Roles and Responsibilities
Availability during a 3-day enumerator training
Full availability during the 3-weeks scheduled for pre-test survey data collection and preferably 3-week post-test survey data collection
Collect data assigned by the supervisor, consent-taking, and review of data collection forms daily to ensure quality checks through electronic data collection methods.
Secure storage of all data according to outlined procedures
Ensure all survey tools/materials are in place before start of the survey (Phones, consent forms, tags, etc.)
Conduct the assigned interviews in an accurate and timely manner in the sampled clusters and report to the supervisor as expected
Executed any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Ensure compliance with ethical and safeguarding guidelines and confidentiality agreements
Requirements for Appointment
For appointments as an Enumerator, a candidate MUST:
Have a minimum academic qualification of a Diploma in Gender and Development Studies, Community Development, Sociology, Public Health, Nutrition, Epidemiology, Statistics or related field. (Degree will be an added advantage)
Be able to demonstrate previous experience in electronic data collection methodologies such as SurveyCTO
Experience collection data at the health facility an added advantage
Be currently a resident of Kilifi County
Familiar with the local communities
Be able to work in Kaloleni and Ganze Sub-Counties
Be able to demonstrate previous experience with collecting quantitative data
Be able to communicate in Kiswahili as well as the local dialect in their locality
Ability and willingness to remain personally involved and committed in full
Ability to work longer hours and sometimes over the weekends
Be able to adhere to Helen Keller Safeguarding policies
