Johanniter Unfall-Hilfe e.V., International Assistance (JIA), is looking for a
Country Director Myanmar (f/m/d) (incl. accountability for Cambodia operations)

Background:
Johanniter International Assistance (JIA) has been active in Myanmar since 2008 together with partner organ-isations in the fields of health, nutrition, WASH and disaster preparedness. By taking measures to improve people’s basic source of income, we increase the resilience of particularly vulnerable communities. We promote peaceful and inclusive coexistence by protecting, restoring and improving the livelihoods of people and com-munities in areas affected by conflict.
The organisation is currently undergoing a strategic restructuring process in response to evolving global condi-tions. The establishment of a new global set-up is a key element of this strategy, aimed at strengthening oper-ational efficiency and fostering deeper collaboration with local partners.

In a Nutshell
■ You will be accountable for the development and implementation of the country strategy in line with regional and global strategies.
■ You will manage the work in the country office Myanmar and hold accountability for the operations with partners in Cambodia with a small local team on the ground.
■ You will be accountable for the performance, legal and regulatory compliance and strategic oversight of the country offices in Myanmar and Cambodia.
■ You will work closely with the Regional Director and actively foster strong collaboration between country, regional and global levels within the Johanniter International Assistance global set up.

Management
■ Accountable for the performance, legal and regulatory compliance and strategic oversight of the country office Myanmar and operations in Cambodia
■ Line manage staff in Myanmar and responsible for staff in Cambodia
■ Collaborate with the Regional Office (RO) on short-term roving support
■ Ensure effective consultative communication and information flow among own and other Country Offices, Regional Office and HQ
Emergency Response
■ Own in-country operations and liaise with the RO and HQ’s humanitarian team and/or OPC
■ Own development of Country Office emer-gency response plan
■ Support emergency response in the region and globally as needed
Programme Implementation & Reporting
■ Own the CO budget as budget holder
■ Own regular CO reporting and responsible for addressing & taking necessary actions, pro-grammatic and budgetary

Networking & Fundraising
■ Act and serve as the primary fundraiser for the country programme
■ Actively participate in in-country donor and civil society networks
■ Lead information-sharing about Johanniter’s programme portfolio and pro-active strategic engagement with donors in country and through the RO in the region
■ Coordinate private fundraising engagement at country level and identify opportunities
Partnerships & Relationship Management
■ Lead on-going and form new partnerships with national & international partners, incl. consortia, at country level

Communication & Advocacy
■ Engage in advocacy at country level, drawing on CO-specific evidence and in coordination with HQ
■ Own national advocacy and sign-off on sensi-tive or high-visibility communications for the country office and contribute to regional com-munication
■ Lead external communication in country to enhance visibility and messaging

What you bring:
■ University degree in a relevant field
or equivalent experience
■ 7-10 years’ experience in a humanitarian context, minimum of 4 years in a leadership role
■ Context related experience in disaster response, humanitarian- and development cooperation pro-grammes
■ Experience in development and implementation of quality country programmes and development of impactful funding strategies
■ Knowledgeable of current debates and trends incl. relevant donors (AA, BMZ, ECHO, BHA)
■ External representation experience and networking at senior level and on the ground, in network clus-ters, donors and government
■ Proven ability to drive continuous improvement
■ Highly developed relationship building, influencing, negotiating and interpersonal skills
■ Clear thinker, calm & focussed under pressure, de-livers results in exceptional circumstances
■ Extensive people management skills and multiple years’ experience in managing teams
■ Strategic and analytical thinking combined with a track record managing change
■ Ability to deal with conflicts, manage resistance
■ Excellent communication skills
■ Willing to travel and work in high risk context
■ Fluent in English
