About the Organization

SYCAC is a non-governmental and non-profit civil society organization established in Türkiye in 2012. The organization works to support conflict-affected and displaced communities through humanitarian action, early recovery, peacebuilding, and capacity strengthening of local communities. SYCAC maintains a field operational presence in Syria through an approved local registration.

Job Purpose
SYCAC is seeking a Finance Officer to support day-to-day accounting and finance operations in Syria, ensuring accurate transaction processing, organized bookkeeping, sound financial reconciliations, complete documentation, and full compliance with SYCAC's financial policies, under the supervision of the Finance Manager.

Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Financial Transactions

Record daily financial transactions accurately in the approved accounting system, using the correct chart of accounts and project coding
Prepare payment vouchers and process supplier payments and financial transactions following review of supporting documents
Maintain cashbooks and support regular cash and bank reconciliations
Financial Reporting & Compliance

Support preparation of monthly financial reports and donor reporting packages
Ensure financial transactions comply with SYCAC policies, donor requirements, and required supporting documentation
Maintain organized financial files to support internal and external audit readiness
Budget & Accounts Monitoring

Track project expenditures and support Budget vs. Actual analysis
Monitor accounts payable and staff/program advances
Support payroll accounting in coordination with HR
Administrative & Regulatory Documentation

Support preparation and submission of required financial and administrative documentation in line with applicable administrative and regulatory requirements, tracking renewal deadlines
Monitor relevant regulatory developments affecting finance operations and flag them to the Finance Manager

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of relevant accounting/finance experience, preferably within an NGO or civil society organization
Technical Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software; advanced Excel skills; strong bookkeeping and reconciliation skills; ability to support financial reporting
Languages: Arabic (native); English (good working proficiency)
Other: Good knowledge of NGO financial procedures and donor compliance requirements; ability to meet monthly closing deadlines
