ROLE PURPOSE:
Under overall guidance and supervision of the WFP Project Manager the Nutrition Officer will oversee the delivery of the WFP BSFP/TSFP project across 10 sites in Deir Al Balah and Khan Younis. They will provide on the job support for the distribution of nutrition commodities, ensure maintenance of data collection and reporting, and monitoring of stock flow and levels.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Overall responsibility for the day-to-day implementation of the WFP nutrition project.
Support on the project set up to ensure that the data collectors and distributors are equipped to meet the project outputs.
Provide on the job training for all WFP project staff at the 10 MBAs
Ensure that children and pregnant and breastfeeding women screened at the distribution site receive appropriate referral and follow up
With the Project Manager develop and deliver standard supervision checklists and provide real time guidance on improvements for project delivery.
Ensure timely and accurate nutrition data collection at the MBA sites
Ensure that daily data on supplies and beneficiaries is shared with the appropriate project team members (Warehousing and MEAL).
Immediate follow up and trouble-shooting of data flows, errors identified.
Facilitate cross-sectoral programming, particularly to promote excellent communication and referral between different programs such as IYCF-E, management of wasting, child friendly space, health, food distribution, WASH etc.
Engage closely with the SCI Safety and Security team to ensure that all community sites are assessed and equipped to provide services safely for staff and for community members
Escalate any operational and security concerns to the WFP Project Manager as required.
Ensure the availability of adequate nutrition IEC materials, and monitoring and evaluation tools in nutrition sites.
Ensure adequate stock and supplies in each of the assigned Nutrition Sites to provide requires services and ensure the space is welcoming, safe and comfortable for women and children.
Conduct regular supportive supervision and provide on-the-job coaching for Nutrition Site staff, identifying capacity gaps to feed into capacity building plans for the team.
Prepare and share regular reports to the Nutrition Coordinator for the assigned Nutrition Sites.
Attend and actively participant in trainings and teams meeting as requested.
Perform other duties related to nutrition programme as required, assigned by supervisor
Ensure effective collaboration and coordination with stakeholders, including nutrition cluster partners, health and nutrition service providers, UN agencies, NGOs
In order to be successful, you will bring/have:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES:
Medical Doctor (MBBS)/ B.Sc. in Nutrition, Public Health, Pharmacy, Nursing or Midwifery
Essential
3 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally WFP project
A good understanding of CMAM & IYCF programme
Excellent interpersonal skill and able to work in a multicultural team
Motivated and prepared to work in nutrition sites in challenging conditions
Ability to communicate with the conflict affected population
Experience of working with NGO
Experience in individual/group counselling
