A vacancy exists for a Maintenance Assistant (Plumber), based at Life Eugene Marais Hospital, reporting to the Engineering Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring continuous maintenance of buildings and repair work within Hospital.

Critical Outputs
The incumbent will be responsible for the general maintenance and repairs of buildings and equipment, conduct routine inspection and report faults or safety hazards.
The candidate must have a good understanding of buildings maintenance and be able to perform plumbing, carpentry, electrical and mechanical tasks.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, complete daily job cards accurately and give feedback to unit managers.
Maintain cleanliness and safety in all work areas and comply with occupational health and safety regulations and Life Healthcare Engineering Policies.
Assist contractors, engineering team and engineering manager during maintenance projects.
Must be self-motivated and disciplined.
Will be responsible and involved in SHEQ procedures.
Excellent fault-finding skills are a must.

Requirements

Grade 12
Minimum 2 years’ maintenance experience, preferably within a hospital or healthcare environment.
Proof of competency in plumbing and any two of the following fields: painting, carpentry, mechanical, electrical, building maintenance or HVAC.
A plumbing trade will be an added advantage.
Excellent communication, People and teamwork skills are prerequisite.
Experience in customer management.
Excellent health and able to work flexible hours when required.
